In order not to feel overwhelmed in the morning, I find a good tip is to take about 15 minutes the night before to quickly tidy every room in the house. Some of you might think that 15 minutes is not a lot, but the goal is to put things away in their designated areas, not to clean every single room from top to bottom. Others might think that you don’t even have 15 minutes at the end of the day to breathe, forget tidying everything up… but give it a try!
Do a run through the whole house, from one room to the other, putting toys in their bins, picking up clothes off the floor, putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher, etc. These simple tasks will make a big difference and will give you the satisfaction of waking up in the morning with a clear head.
The same goes for work. At the end of your work day, take just a few minutes before leaving to clear your desk and put everything away. Put pens in the drawer, papers in the appropriate file, pile or folder, straighten your computer screen, keyboard and mouse, and push your chair towards the desk. There, that’s it!
If you want to go a step further, take just 5 minutes to write a list of tasks or projects to do the next day. The next morning, you will come into your office space and feel much more relaxed and clear minded. You will know exactly what to tackle first.
